The Modern "Testimony"

Prepare Your Testimony
In the coming week, write out your own testimony. You will probably do well to print out the chapter on Biblical Standards as an outline or guide. You are not under martial law to follow it strictly. It is your story. But the chapter on Biblical Standards was written to give you guidance on the goal of your testimony, and the elements you should strive to incorporate into it. Remember, your goal is to graciously and humbly lead others to saving faith in Christ, or to move them down the path to a closer understanding than they were before.
If you are in a small group, next week, bring in copies of your testimony for other group members. You will compare the testimony of others against the Biblical Standards, and rate the effectiveness of their testimony.
Remember, a testimony is YOUR story. For example, if you came out of the Jehovah's Witness cult, you may have a more intriguing story about your struggle with the divinity of Jesus than you will have in describing how you came to understand what He accomplished at Calvary. (You should still have some mention of his atoning death, but it may not be the centerpiece of your testimony). It should have at least some of the saving message, and should focus on at least one aspect of the saving message of Jesus' divinity, His atoning death for your sins, His resurrection, the freeness of His offer, and your journey to faith in His person and work as your own Lord and Savior. Your testimony, and others, should be rated in view of their thoroughness, clarity, focus, and last, but certainly not irrelevant, is how you have woven these great truths into a compelling story of your own conversion.
Eventually, the membership section of the Clear Gospel web site will be completed, and you will be able to post your testimony in conjunction with your membership.
